Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2328
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2328 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
In today’s Wisdom Nugget, I will guide you through the vast landscapes of biblical wisdom. Today, we’ll delve into Proverbs 27:22-27 from the New Living Translation.
In these verses, we’ll uncover insights into the importance of diligence, neglect’s consequences, and careful stewardship’s benefits.
So, let’s not delay any further. Let’s uncover the wisdom within Proverbs.
Verse 22-23:
“You cannot separate fools from their foolishness, even though you grind them like grain with mortar and pestle. Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds.”
These verses emphasize the importance of diligence and careful stewardship over one’s possessions.
How can we understand the importance of diligence and careful stewardship?
Recognize the importance of diligence in every aspect of life, whether it be in your work, your relationships, or your stewardship of resources. Be diligent in attending to your responsibilities, knowing that neglect can lead to undesirable outcomes. Cultivate a spirit of excellence in all you do, putting your heart into caring for the things entrusted to your care. Just as a shepherd knows the state of his flock and cares for them diligently, so should you be attentive to the needs of those under your care. Practice diligence in your work and stewardship, knowing it is the key to success and prosperity.
Now, let’s explore verses 24-25.
“For riches don’t last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation. When the hay is harvested and the new crop appears and the mountain grasses are gathered in.”
These verses caution against relying solely on wealth and emphasize the transient nature of material possessions.
How can we understand the transient nature of material possessions and the importance of wise stewardship?
Recognize that material possessions are fleeting and that true wealth lies in the wisdom of stewardship. Be mindful of the legacy you are building for future generations, knowing that riches do not last forever and that the crown may not be passed to the next generation. Invest your resources wisely, knowing that they are entrusted to you by God and that you will be held accountable for how you use them. Practice generosity and wise stewardship, knowing that true riches are found in using your resources to bless others and advance God’s kingdom.
And finally, let’s turn our attention to verses 26-27.
“You can make clothing from the wool of your sheep and sell it for a profit. You can purchase a field with the earnings from your crops. You might plant the field with rows of olive trees and never stop to gather the fruit from them or even taste the olives, but they will be there for the buyer.”
These verses speak to the potential for profit and investment that comes from diligent stewardship.

In today’s Wisdom Nugget, I will guide you through the vast landscapes of biblical wisdom. Today, we’ll be exploring Proverbs 27:15-21 from the New Living Translation.
In these verses, we’ll uncover insights into the importance of diligence, the value of wise stewardship, and the dangers of strife and discord.
Reflect…
So, without further ado, let’s dive into the wisdom of Proverbs.
Verses 15-16:
“A quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping on a rainy day. Stopping her complaints is like trying to stop the wind or trying to hold something with greased hands.”
These verses highlight the destructive nature of strife and discord within relationships.
How can we understand the importance of harmony in relationships and the dangers of strife and discord?
Recognize the importance of fostering harmony and peace in your relationships, whether it be with a spouse, family member, or friend. Avoid engaging in quarrels or arguments that only serve to create tension and discord. Instead, seek to resolve conflicts peacefully and strive to cultivate a spirit of understanding and empathy in your interactions with others. Be willing to listen with an open heart and communicate with grace and humility, knowing that true harmony is built on a foundation of mutual respect and love.
Now, let’s explore verses 17-18.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. As workers who tend a fig tree are allowed to eat the fruit, so workers who protect their employer’s interests will be rewarded.”
These verses emphasize the value of wise counsel and the benefits of diligent stewardship.
How can we understand the importance of wise counsel and diligent stewardship?
Recognize the value of seeking wise counsel from trusted friends and advisors who can offer guidance and support in your journey through life. Surround yourself with people who challenge you to grow and develop, sharpening you like iron sharpens iron. Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism, knowing that it can help you become a better version of yourself. Additionally, be diligent in your stewardship of the resources and responsibilities entrusted to you, whether it be in your professional endeavors or personal relationships. Cultivate a spirit of diligence and integrity, knowing that it will be rewarded in due time.
And finally, let’s turn our attention to verses 19-21.
“As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person. Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied. Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but a person is tested by being praised.”
These verses speak to the nature of the human heart and the insatiable nature of desire.

Joy in Serving – Working Out God’s Inner Work – Philippians 2:12-18
Last week, we explored A Christlike Decent Into Greatness. “What’s the secret to a great life?” The Bible’s answer to that question isn’t long, convoluted, or complex. As indicated last week, we can sum it up in two words: selfless humility.
This week, we continue our study of the letter to the church at Philippi. With the question, How can we allow God to work within us to become more like the perfect imager of Jesus Christ with selfless humility?
Today's scripture passage is Philippians 2:12-18 on pages 1827 and 1828, in your Pew Bibles.
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice>and service>coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
Examples are wonderful things. People who have gone before us and lived admirable and exemplary lives are valuable because they can show us how we ought to live. We can study the lives of great women and men throughout history who have lived inspirational and motivational lives and have set the stage for us to do the same.
We have many examples of good and godly people to imitate, but ultimately, we can look to the radical obedience exemplified in Christ’s selfless humility, as described in Philippians 2:6–11. He left the glories of heaven to take on inglorious humanity and live amid suffering, /sin, /and death. He veiled the brilliance of His divine attributes in the flesh and willingly accepted the limitations of human life. He ceded angelic adoration>and praise to become a victim of torture and, ultimately, of an excruciating death on a cross. And He carried out all of this in perfect obedience. Not one flaw. Not one inconsistency. Not one impatient word. Not one misstep or stray thought contrary to the Father’s will.
Mark Twain once wrote, “Few things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example.” What about an impossible example? I’m not a God-man. Neither are you. Only Jesus, the incarnate Son of God, could embody this kind of supernatural humility and miraculous obedience! How in the -

In today’s Wisdom Nugget, I will guide you through the vast landscapes of biblical wisdom. Today, we’ll be exploring Proverbs 27:8-14 from the New Living Translation.
In these verses, we’ll uncover insights into the value of friendship, the importance of reliable counsel, and the benefits of diligent stewardship.

So, without further delay, let’s dive into the wisdom of Proverbs.
Verses 8-9:
“As a bird that strays from its nest, so is a man who wanders from his home. Ointment and perfume delight the heart, and the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel.”
These verses highlight the value of friendship and the comfort found in reliable counsel.
How can we understand the importance of friendship and the benefits of reliable counsel?
Recognize the value of genuine friendship and the comfort it brings, especially in times of need. Cultivate deep, meaningful relationships with those who offer sincere counsel and support, knowing that they can provide invaluable wisdom and encouragement. Be a loyal friend yourself, offering your support and counsel to others in their times of need. Cherish the bonds of friendship, knowing that they are a source of joy and strength in life’s journey.
Reflect…
Now, let’s explore verses 10-11.
“Do not forsake your friend or your father’s friend, and do not go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity; better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away. Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him who reproaches me.”
These verses emphasize the importance of loyalty to friends and the value of having reliable neighbors in times of need.
How can we understand the importance of loyalty to friends and the value of reliable neighbors?
Recognize the importance of loyalty to friends and neighbors, especially in times of adversity. Build strong relationships with those around you, investing time and effort into nurturing these bonds. Be there for your friends and neighbors when they need you, offering your support and assistance without hesitation. Foster a sense of community and belonging, knowing that we are stronger when we stand together. Be wise in your interactions with others, seeking to build bridges rather than walls, and striving to be a source of encouragement and support to those around you.
Reflect…
And finally, let’s turn our attention to verses 12-14.
“A prudent man sees evil and hides himself, the naive proceed and pay the penalty. Take his garment when he becomes surety for a stranger; and for an adulterous woman hold him in pledge. He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be reckoned a curse to him.”
These verses caution against foolishness, advise caution in making financial... -

Philippians-5 A Christlike Decent Into Greatness – Daily Wisdom
Putnam Church Message – 01/07/2023
Joy in Serving – A Christlike Decent Into Greatness – Philippians 2:1-11
Last week, we looked into the lives of two devout persons who have been waiting all their lives for the coming Messiah in a message titled, The Oldest Bucket List: Simeon and Anna.
This week, we pick up where we left off before Advent in our study of the letter to the church at Philippi. Today, we explore A Christlike Decent Into Greatness.
Today's scripture passage is Philippians 2:1-11 on page 1827, in your Pew Bibles.
1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
To move forward from the first chapter to the second chapter of Paul’s letter to the Philippians, we need to take a step backward to Philippians 1:21, a key verse for the epistle: For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. Paul knew that to experience martyrdom and to be ushered into the presence of Christ would be a great gain. But he also knew that God had much more work for him to do in the here and now and that he was called to encourage others to live like Christ.
But how do we truly live like Him? How do we possibly begin to take even one small step closer toward the greatness>Christ exhibited as the God-man? How can we become an imager like Christ? Is there a specific series of deeds we need to do? Fruitless! Do we attempt to mimic His miracles?... -

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the wisdom of Proverbs.
Verse 1-2:
“Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring. Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth—a stranger, not your own lips.”
These verses caution against boasting about future plans and highlight the virtue of humility.
How can we understand the importance of humility and the danger of boasting?
Recognize the importance of humility and avoid boasting about future plans or accomplishments. Instead, adopt a humble attitude, acknowledging that you cannot predict the future and that any successes you achieve are ultimately gifts from God. Cultivate a spirit of gratitude and humility, seeking to give credit where credit is due and avoiding the temptation to boast or seek recognition for your achievements. Embrace a mindset of humility, recognizing that true greatness is found in serving others and seeking the well-being of those around you.

Now, let’s explore verses 3-4.
“A stone is heavy and sand is weighty, but the resentment caused by a fool is even heavier. Anger is cruel, and wrath is like a flood, but jealousy is even more dangerous.”
These verses depict the destructive power of resentment, anger, and jealousy.
How can we understand the dangers of resentment, anger, and jealousy?
Recognize the dangers of harboring resentment and jealousy in your heart and choose to guard against them. These verses emphasize the value of honest feedback and the importance of discerning true friendship.
